How Hypnosis Works
How Hypnosis Works
Hypnosis is a process which allows us to gain access to the subconscious part of our mind. This is the part of our mind where we house all our habits, rituals, routines, beliefs, values, memories and more!
Each of these habits, rituals, routines, beliefs, values, and memories is physically represented in our brain as neural pathways. Everything you can do, from blinking your eyes to digesting your food, to playing a song on the piano or dressing yourself, is possible because you have these neural pathways in your brain.
This brings us to a discussion about the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. Understanding these two parts of your mind will help you understand more about how hypnosis works.
The conscious part of your mind is the part of you that is awake, alert, aware, able to make decisions, to analyze, to compare and contrast. Most of us think this is who we really are. However, you may be surprised to learn that you are only consciously aware of, and in conscious control of, one-to-five percent of your day. That is not a typo.
This explains why it’s so hard to make change even though we “consciously” know what we want to do. My weight loss clients “know” how to put a healthy meal together. They “know” they should not eat chips and cookies and ice cream every day. They “know” they should exercise on a regular basis so they buy a gym membership, they get new exercise clothes, and they block off time for a work-out every day, only to realize that they can’t seem to follow-through on this change. Here’s why.
Ninety-five to ninety-nine percent of what we do everyday is coming from the programs of the subconscious mind. There’s a lot of momentum behind these programs and this momentum is keeping you from taking what you want at the conscious level and getting that into the subconscious mind. I could go on for hours, and often do, but for the sake of time, please schedule a consultation with me and I’ll explain it all there!
The bottom line is this. By gently relaxing your body and mind, your brainwaves slow down to an Alpha/Theta state. These are the brainwaves associated with hypnosis. In this state, your subconscious mind is open and available for change. Change is made by listening to the hypnosis recording I will make for you. The suggestions in your recording will be worded in a very specific way, creating the imagery of what you WANT to happen in your life.
Repetition is key. As you listen to your hypnosis recording from me on a daily basis for about two-weeks, your subconscious mind takes all that language, translates it into the language of the subconscious, which is imagery, and you physically rewire your brain through the development of new neural pathways that reflect the change you want for yourself.
I have seen so many incredible transformations in my clients over the years. Hypnosis is a gentle natural way to reprogram your subconscious mind so that the programs running the show each day accurately reflect the desires of your conscious mind.
